Off Sick But Still Been Haseled

Like a blot out of the blue there on my doorstep is my boss on a welfare visit. Quote: didn't you receive the letter ? NO ! This is the second time a ghost letter has been sent, I did receive a letter informing me I was going on to 1/2 pay !! Is this harassment to bully me back to work ? I think it possibly is. This is from a service that is meant to be compassionate, but shows no compassion to its employees.

Late Update

Just a quick note to say I have been of sick etc so no update. Not of sick from feb 07 but had finding time to put comments on blog difficult. News from work is still the same, low moral, low manning and a mangement that will not or unwilling to listen !! New recrutement underway this will solve all problems .... I Think not.

PS: Been made to feel I should not be sick and I should be back at work.

To Lift or Not to Lift ?

Been reading comments left on the following site:
http://nicenurse.wordpress.com/

It is good or not good to see that it is not just the North West of England that is at loggerheads with Nursing Homes, Care Homes etc, over the policy of lifting patients from the floor with no injury. The bottom line as I see with this problem, is that these so called Care Homes (I use this tittle with tounge in cheek) is down to funding ie: they do not want to fund or train staff and find dialing 999 as a cost effective option. I find that these institutions also pay low wages and employ a lot of non speaking or pigeon speaking English staff with no trained staff on duty. (I am not a raciest). I ask anyone who says they are not stressed, then try a give CPR instructions to a member of the average nursing/care home with little understanding of English !!!!

DAY IN THE LIFE OF A EMERGENCY CALL TAKER

This is a quick over view of a 12 hour night shift for me and my work mates:

1900 hrs Log In

1902 hrs first call which can be anything from a lady giving birth to a cardiac arrest. Then again it my be a xxx person with a cut finger who thinks the Ambulance Service is short for Taxi.

2000 hrs the Friady night possie is out.

20010 hrs first of many call for "my mate has been assaulted" not his or her fault.

2025 hrs Stabbing or was it a shooting. It's my freiend and he or she has drunk to much aged 10 - 13 years old. Mum and Dad in the Pub.

2100 hrs - 0500 hrs - Drunk (xxx), OD, Stabbing, Shooting, Collapse, DIB, MI, CVA, TIA, RTA, I want to kill myself, Iam not feeling well, can you just talk to me, my baby is not breathing and to end the rush hours I can not wake up mother. No money to get home. I pay my taxes so send an ambulance because he has OD on Heroin (5th call for the same person within a month and same problem).

Most common insults given out: I will shoot you, stab you, I know were you live, I will kill your family, burn your house down, and I will harm your kids.

But not all bad news: female found her husband dead in bed but is sorry for calling and waisting ambulance time. States she new husband was dead when his hand went cold after holding his hand in bed all night to keep him company/to show she loved him !!!

0500 hrs - 0700 hrs - Domestic Assaults, fallen out of bed, fallen, DOA, I've taken to much Cocaine/Heroine/'E'S' etc, will I drop dead (question) !!!

AC

All this is on a quite normal weekend and not pay weekend night.
